The 2nd generation of S.O.G. Crew (Thump Records/ Universal Music Group) members come up in the movement before the groups second 'Up That Game' album (2007) was released through 4th Man/ Infinity Distribution out of Nashville, TN. This group of members rode the second wave of their historic movement. The 2nd generation went from getting saved to urban and rural missionaries, marketing giants, big stage performers, media monsters, red carpet and radio hosts, and National recording artists.
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
"The 2nd generation will always be special to us. We watched them go from insecure individuals that experienced hard life battles their entire lives to confident Christian Americans that understood their identities and the vision that God had rooted deep in their hearts.
Lyzette 'So Blessed' Garza from Indio, CA stands out when I think of the 2nd generation. In 2007 She had heard our music on the FM station in Coachella Valley thanks to radio host Erin Deveaux that would use our Up That Game song as the intro to her radio show reaching millions. Erin would promote our annual Let Your Fire Fall Youth Crusade on her show and Garza showed up. I remember she was in front of the stage the entire event weeping and dancing while worshiping the Lord at our annual Anaheim event. I even called her out of the crowd and invited her to sing that day. She has never left us since. Her story was that her children were taken away from her by the system. We helped guide her through that time in her life and she was completely restored receiving custody of her children again and at the same time became an influential person in her community thanks to the power of Jesus Christ.
My son Rober Ornelas Jr. known as Little Battle Ax had been around the camp since day one and at the age of 9 years old was even featured on the intro of 'Are You With Me' off of Rise To Get Down (2003) our first album that was distributed by Acropolis RPM out of Newport Beach, CA. I remember seeing it in the eyes of Little Battle Ax when he caught the vision. Robbie as our family knows him was with The S.O.G. Crew at the Black History Parade at Martin Luther King Park in Long Beach, CA. That day we rocked our first big event in front of twenty thousand people thanks to clothing company West Side Originals that had sponsored the group during that time. It was that day that he committed his life to pursuing music the way he loved to play football or as much as he loved God and his family. He was only 16 at the time. Today he is traveling the world with his wife Regina using the gifts that God has blessed him with to reach urban and rural communities.
A few members of this class received honorary masters degrees for recognition of an extraordinary and lasting distinction.
The 2nd generation helped pioneer something special. They were all revivalists that had been molded by the Holy Spirit. They were Hip-Hop artists that could instantly transition to worship ushering in the presence of the Almighty. The 2nd generation was not afraid to be used to reach the masses or the one on one individual ministry. They believed and ran with whatever revelation and principle from the word of God that we shared with them. This group stepped out by faith and helped pioneer in Anaheim, Hawaii, Alaska, New York, Atlanta, and most Native American Communities. They were all humble servants that could lead if asked to. This group was humble, influential and very approachable," stated Dr. Robert Ornelas former Vice Presidential Candidate.
